Toast of the Day: Death in the Afternoon

Hemingway is renowned for many things, notwithstanding, his drink of choice, a Death in the Afternoon. Now that Absinthe is legal here in the States, we can all enjoy a sip of his poison.

Death in the Afternoon:

-In a champagne flute

-pour 1 1/2 ounces of Absinthe

-pop open a bottle of your favorite iced champagne or sparkling wine, brut, of course, and let the bubbly flow until the green fairy’s power clouds up in your glass (about 4 oz).

-Raise your glass in honor of one of the greats and enjoy. Salud, Papa!

We are all apprentices in a craft where no one ever becomes a master.– Ernest Hemingway

"When I have an idea, I turn down the flame, as if it were a little alcohol stove, as low as it will go. Then it explodes and that is my idea. "
