Volume 80 No. 2 (Winter 2014)
- 6 /Such Simplicity, Robert Stewart
- 13 /The Others Are Strangers, Rashaan Alexis Meneses
Hankering for some good summer reads? A short fiction piece inspired by the month-long residency at the International Retreat for Writers in Hawthornden Castle, Scotland has found a home at New Letters. “The Others Are Strangers” is a first person account of a boy’s day out in Edinburgh. Though the story seems the furthest from your salonniere’s experience and background, I fell in love with the characters and voice. Take a sneak peek here and peep a shout out in Robert Stewart’s “Editor’s Note.”
Single copies ($10), without subscription, can be purchased here for yourself or any lover of lit. For fellow educators, perhaps this may be a piece to include in next fall or spring’s reading list? Would love to come to your class to talk writing with your students. Please share on your social media of choice, and, as always, many thanks for your support.
