For here’s the big secret: it’s not a matter of ‘wild’ or ‘non-wild’. Wildness (in the sense of that which takes us out of ourselves) exists all along a great big continuum–a sliding scale, graduated not in numbers but in degrees of differentiation from the human quotidian (14).
